Albertville family RV business earns Retailer of the Year title

ALBERTVILLE / BIRMINGHAM – “We try to build our business on doing what is right and taking care of customers,” said Randy Hall, president of Hall’s RV in Albertville.

When the business began, it was Hall and his son-in-law, Carl Battles. Now, the whole family plays a role. “We sell fun,” said Sarah Hall, Randy’s wife and company vice president. Sales are her chief responsibility. Their son, Brandon, keeps the website updated; their daughter, Brooke, handles accounting and financing among other duties; Carl is in charge of service and warranties; their daughter-in-law, Stephanie, works in the parts department; and Randy spends most of his time in the shop. “We do all of our service work here,” he explained. The family does what is needed to get through the business day. “A lot of times it is 8 o’clock at night or 8:30 before we get home,” Sarah said. “Randy and Sarah Hall surround themselves with family and friends and work as a team,” said a local bank president who recommended them as a Retailer of the Year.

Consistent profits and increased sales earned the Halls and Hall’s RV the title of Alabama’s 2017 Bronze Retailer of the Year in the Annual Sales $1 Million to $5 Million category. The Alabama Retail Association honored the Halls at a luncheon in Birmingham held in cooperation with the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Collat School of Business.

In February 2015, after more than 10 years in business, the Halls bought 19 acres and built a new facility on U.S. 431. “We should have moved earlier,” Randy said of outgrowing their previous location two miles down the road.

“This is a major thoroughfare with very high traffic counts,” said Jennifer Palmer, president of the Albertville Chamber of Commerce, who nominated the Halls as a Retailer of the Year. “When they decided to move here, they took a blighted area of our town and made it pretty again.” Earlier this year, the Albertville chamber named Hall’s RV as its Small Business of the Year in the 11-50 employees category. Hall’s RV is also a member of the Guntersville and Oneonta chambers.

Hall’s RV, an Alabama Retail Association member, was one of 14 retail businesses honored today as Retailers of the Year. This year’s winners came from a pool of more than 90 nominees. The Alabama Retailer of the Year awards, started in 1999, honor retailers who have demonstrated growth, innovation and a commitment to their respective communities.

“Randy and Sarah Hall are retailers of the year EVERY year to the Hall’s RV customers, the company’s 20 employees and the Albertville community,” said Alabama Retail Association President Rick Brown.
