Nominations for Alabama Retailer of the Year Open

MONTGOMERY – The Alabama Retail Association is accepting nominations for the 2026 Alabama Retailer of the Year until Friday, May 29.

Now in its 26th year, the Alabama Retailer of the Year awards celebrate businesses that exemplify excellence in retail through strong operations, innovation, and a deep commitment to the communities they serve.

“Across Alabama, retailers are more than just places to shop. They are cornerstones of their communities,” said Rick Brown, president of the Alabama Retail Association. “From small towns to larger cities, these businesses create jobs, support local initiatives, and help define the character of the places we call home.”

Nominees must own, operate, or manage a retail business with a physical presence in Alabama. Eligible businesses span a wide range of industries, including food, clothing, gifts, hardware, outdoor equipment, furniture, pharmaceuticals, jewelry, and more. To qualify as a retail operation, the business must collect state and local sales taxes.

“Every community in Alabama has retailers who make a difference,” Brown added. “We encourage Alabamians to take a moment to recognize those businesses by submitting a nomination.”
