FEDERAL LAW CHANGES
April 1, 2020, – Dec. 31, 2020: Employee Rights: Paid Sick Leave and Expanded Family and Medical Leave under The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) Print this poster out and display during the dates indicated alongside the federal poster (linked above) provided to you by the Alabama Retail Association.
The changes below are reflected on the 6-in-1 federal poster mailed Aug. 23, 2016, to Alabama Retail Association members and linked above.
EMPLOYEE RIGHTS UNDER THE FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT
Although the federal minimum wage has not changed, changes were made to the poster commonly referred to as the minimum wage poster. Effective Aug. 1, 2016, a new section was added related to nursing mothers and a bulleted item was added concerning misclassification of workers as “independent contractors” when they should be considered employees under the law. Changes also were made to the Tip Credit and Child Labor sections. View FLSA poster.
EMPLOYEE POLYGRAPH PROTECTION ACT
As of Aug. 1, 2016, every employer subject to the Employee Polygraph Protection Act (EPPA) must post the July 2016 version of the Employee Rights Under the Employee Polygraph Protection Act poster. A reference to a specific dollar amount associated with the penalty for not posting was removed and the size of the poster changed. The U.S. Secretary of Labor can assess civil penalties against violators. View EPPA poster.
JOB SAFETY AND HEALTH: IT’S THE LAW UPDATED
In April 2015, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration released a redesigned version of its “Job Safety and Health – It’s The Law!” poster. Previous versions of the poster do not need to be replaced, according to OSHA. Your Alabama Retail provided posters includes the 2015 redesign. View OSHA poster.
FAMILY AND MEDICAL LEAVE ACT
In February 2013, the U.S. Labor Department issued new regulations that expanded the Family and Medical Leave Act. The changes concern veterans and active duty military as well as airline personnel and flight crews. View FMLA poster.
