Nominations for Alabama Retailer of the Year Open

MONTGOMERY – The Alabama Retail Association is accepting nominations for the 2025 Alabama Retailer of the Year until Friday, May 16.

In its 25th year, the Alabama Retailer of the Year awards recognize outstanding retailers who have demonstrated a blend of sound business practices and innovation with commitment to their communities, customers and employees.

“Alabama is home to thriving, inventive, and community-driven shops and restaurants,” explained Rick Brown, president of the Alabama Retail Association. “We are excited to showcase their success and contributions.”

Nominees must own, operate or manage a retail business with a physical presence in Alabama. Retailers can sell a wide range of products including food, clothing, gifts, hardware, outdoor equipment, furniture, pharmaceuticals, jewelry, apparel, shoes and more. To be considered a retail operation, the business must collect state and local sales taxes.

“No matter where you reside in the state, or the size of your community, you likely know a local retailer who is making an impact. We hope you will nominate them for this recognition,” Brown added.

The Alabama Retail Association represents retailers, the largest private employer in the state of Alabama, before the Alabama Legislature and the U.S. Congress. Through sales of food, clothing, furniture, medicine and more, our 4,500 independent merchant and national company members touch almost every aspect of daily living. Since 1943, we’ve worked to promote what’s best for the retail industry in Alabama. Whether voicing the retail view when public policy is made, educating members about issues that impact them, negotiating rates for benefits and services or communicating the retail story, the Alabama Retail Association and its members are better together.
