Dustin Beaty, owner of Hospital Discount Pharmacy and co-owner of Lavish Boutique and Lavish Coffee Bar, has been elected to the Alabama Retail Association’s board of directors. His two-year term begins Jan. 1.
In 2005, the Auburn University School of Pharmacy graduate founded Hospital Discount Pharmacy in Jasper, a Good Neighbor Pharmacy® specializing in competitive prices and superior customer service. His wife, Shannon, began a corner boutique in the pharmacy in the summer of 2012. It has grown into two free-standing boutiques, one with an 800-square-foot coffee bar inside. Lavish Boutique opened in 2013 and Lavish Coffee Bar in 2016.
All three of the Beatys’ businesses occupy almost two city blocks in downtown Jasper. The couple opened a second Lavish Boutique in August of this year in the Cullman Warehouse District.
Lavish Boutique and Coffee Bar earned the title of Alabama’s 2018 Silver Retailer of the Year Award in the Annual Sales $1 Million to $5 Million category. It also was recognized as the Alabama Retailer of the Year Customers’ Choice Award winner for 2018. “How can you top retail therapy with a coffee fix?” asked one customer. “I know, you can’t!”
In 2017, Alabama Main Street recognized Lavish Boutique and Coffee Bar for Excellence in Architectural Design. Beaty, 45, served as president of the Jasper Main Street program for two years.
The Beatys live in Jasper with their twins, Jon Bryant and Maci, and their son, Hunter Poe.
The Alabama Retail Association represents retailers, the largest private employer in the state of Alabama, before the Alabama Legislature and the U.S. Congress. Through sales of food, clothing, furniture, medicine and more, our 4,200 independent merchant and national company members touch almost every aspect of daily living. Since 1943, we’ve worked to promote what’s best for the retail industry in Alabama. Whether voicing the retail view when public policy is made, educating members about issues that impact them, negotiating rates for benefits and services or communicating the retail story, the Alabama Retail Association and its members are better together.
