MONTGOMERY – Melissa Johnson Warnke this week joined the Alabama Retail Association as manager of communications and engagement. In her new position, she will be an integral part of the Alabama Retail Association’s communication team, engaging members, the media and the public on retail matters as well as educating them about the programs and services offered by the association.
She comes to the association after almost eight years in various positions at WSFA 12 News in Montgomery, including noon anchor and Today in Alabama reporter. Warnke has a mass communications degree from Auburn University.
“We are thrilled to have Melissa on board to help tell the retail story in our state,” said Alabama Retail Association President Rick Brown. “Her video and communications skills will add value for our current members and prove invaluable to attracting new member businesses to the association.”
Warnke has strong connections to the Montgomery community. She was a member of the EMERGE Torchbearers Leadership Class V, is the provisional co-chair for the Junior League of Montgomery, is vice president of the Clefworks board of directors and is an advisory board member for the LifeSouth Blood Bank of Central Alabama.
She and her husband, Adam, reside in Montgomery and are expecting their first child in January.
