Fourteen Alabama Retail Association member restaurants are featured in a cookbook released just in time for the 2018 holiday season.
“Alabama Cravings: The Most Requested Recipes from Alabama Restaurants Past & Present,” by Season 8 Food Network Star runner-up Martie Duncan, a Birmingham native, arrived at retailers Nov. 30. This is Duncan’s third cookbook.
It features 97 recipes that span the state and every craving from savory to sweet. Recipes from The Bright Star in Bessemer; Buzzcatz Coffee & Sweets in Orange Beach; Classic on Noble in Anniston; Commerce Kitchen in Huntsville; Ed’s Seafood Shed in Spanish Fort; Hunt’s Seafood Restaurant and Oyster Bar in Dothan; Irondale Café; Niki’s West in Birmingham; The Noble South in Mobile; Panini Pete’s in Fairhope and Mobile; Southwood Kitchen in Daphne; Sunset Pointe at Fly Creek Marina in Fairhope; Wash House Restaurant in Point Clear; and Wolf Bay Restaurant in Foley and Orange Beach are among those featured.
“I was honored” to be included, said Wolf Bay owner Char Haber. “She asked me for our gumbo recipe, but I turned her down. That’s a secret recipe that my mother and five ladies created back in 1973. My fried oysters are in the book. I let her put a little bit about the gumbo in there.”
