Dothan independent outdoor lifestyle retailer owner/CFO joins Retail Association board

Susan Anderson, owner and chief financial officer of Eagle Eye Outfitters in Dothan, has been elected to the Alabama Retail Association’s board of directors. Her two-year term begins Jan. 1.

With a 1997 accounting degree from Troy University Dothan, Anderson worked in the accounting field for eight years. She spent three years as an accountant for the Southern Co. at Farley Nuclear Plant, four years as an accounting supervisor for Georgia-Pacific and a year as a cost analyst for AAA Cooper Transportation.

She and her husband, Mark, opened Eagle Eye Outfitters in 1999. At one time, the Slocomb natives and high school sweethearts, who married in 1994, were employed by the same Dothan retailer. The Andersons and their two daughters –  Olivia and Mackensie – live in Dothan.

The couple have grown their independent outdoor lifestyle business from 2,500 to 45,000 square feet of space. In 2016, the Andersons and Eagle Eye Outfitters were the Bronze Alabama Retailer of the Year in their sales category. The business has been an Alabama Retail Association member since May 2020.

Susan Anderson, 45, is a longtime volunteer for WIRED Ministries and the Wiregrass Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is also a former member of the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce and Dothan Convention and Visitor’s Bureau board of directors.

The Alabama Retail Association has helped me run my business much more efficiently with valuable resources, especially during 2020,” said Anderson, specifically mentioning connecting Eagle Eye with COVID small business assistance programs and business/personnel law experts.
