Birmingham’s New York Butcher Shoppe is Silver Retailer of the Year

BIRMINGHAM –  Whether it is a cut of meat, a sandwich, a gourmet casserole or a bottle of wine, if it comes from the two locations of New York Butcher Shoppe in Birmingham, you can count on it being extraordinary.

New York Butcher Shoppe and, specifically Jim Moeller, is a dream business in our community,” said Karen Odle, president and chief executive officer of the Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce. “Jim makes our average events exceptional.

Moeller, who owns the franchise stores in the Cahaba Heights neighborhood of Vestavia Hills and in the Greystone area of Shelby County, has earned the title of Alabama’s 2019 Silver Retailer of the Year in the Annual Sales $1 Million to $5 Million category. New York Butcher Shoppe, an Alabama Retail Association member since 2017, was one of 14 retail businesses honored today as Retailers of the Year. Odle nominated Moeller for the award.

His store in Vestavia Hills was the highest volume location in the entire New York Butcher Shoppe system for 2018,” said Jim Tindal, the chief  executive officer for Butcher Shoppes International. In his letter of support, Tindal added that the Greystone location, which opened in April, is already experiencing “extremely high volumes.”

The 2019 Retailer of the Year judges called Moeller’s stores “outstanding” and “award-winning for sure.” The Alabama Retailer of the Year awards, started in 1999, honor retailers who have demonstrated growth, innovation and a commitment to their respective communities.

Because of the success of the Cahaba Heights store, which opened in 2010, Moeller said he was able to pay off his business loans years early and open the second location.

We have a great customer base, and we have a great staff,” said Moeller. “We have just worked really hard to give the best customer service we can, and I think our customers recognize that.

The Retailer of the Year judges also commended Moeller for his community service. His entry listed more than 50 different community groups and charities that his Birmingham New York Butcher Shoppes support in some way.

It sure is fun contributing to the business climate of the state of Alabama and having an opportunity to provide my employees a chance to succeed and support their own families,” Moeller said when accepting his award.

Jim Moeller is a retailer who stands out every day for the New York Butcher Shoppe customers, his 11 employees, the Vestavia Hills and Greystone communities as well as the greater Birmingham area,” said Alabama Retail Association President Rick Brown.
