Dear Alabama Retailer:

Theft.  It is the No. 1 problem retailers face today.

Each year, Alabama businesses lose millions of dollars due to theft and worthless checks.  Obviously, the more we know about Alabama’s laws, as well as what motivates and discourages theft attempts, the more cost-effective our loss control efforts become.  That is the purpose of this booklet.

The Alabama Retail Association and Attorney General Luther Strange have worked together to provide you up-to-date information to help you understand and apply Alabama’s criminal laws and the Civil Recovery Law.  Remember, by reducing the opportunity for crime, you reduce the cost of crime for yourself and the consumer.
