The Alabama Retail Association and other groups have received hundreds of complaints from business owners concerning abuse by for-profit auditing firms. Your association has shared those stories with legislators, but what resonates most is hearing directly from business owners.
“Please make calls and email those on these committees and let them know how important this is to you as a business owner and employer in their district!” said Rep. Paul Lee, R-Dothan, the House bill sponsor.
“Certain governmental functions need to stay within the realm of government,” said Sen. Paul Sanford, R-Huntsville. “A great example is tax audits and tax collections. Those don’t need to be shopped out to the private sector.”
