Doug Schneider, executive vice president of operations for Bayer Properties, has been elected to the Alabama Retail Association’s board of directors. His two-year term began Jan. 1.
Bayer Properties, a Birmingham commercial real estate development and management firm specializing in mixed-use destinations, has been a member of the Alabama Retail Association since 2018. It has more than 400 retail, restaurant, entertainment and hospitality tenant partners. It owns and/or manages the top two lifestyle retail destinations in Alabama – The Summit in Birmingham and Bridge Street Town Center in Huntsville.
Schneider has been with Bayer since 2007. He previously served as senior vice president for marketing. His prior work history includes vice president of marketing for Saks Department Store Group; 13 years in various marketing positions at Fruit of the Loom; two years with Johnston & Murphy and two years as a store operations manager for Kmart Corp. He has a business management degree from Western Kentucky University.
“My goal in joining the board is to utilize my previous experience as a retailer combined with my current retail commercial real estate and development knowledge to further contribute to the ongoing success of Alabama retailers,” Schneider said.
The Alabama Retail Association represents retailers, the largest private employer in the state of Alabama, before the Alabama Legislature and the U.S. Congress. Our 4,300 independent merchant and national company members touch almost every aspect of daily living. Whether voicing the retail view when public policy is made, educating members about issues that impact them, negotiating rates for benefits and services or communicating the retail story, the Alabama Retail Association and its members are better together.
