Mark became Fund Manager for Alabama Retail Comp in November of 2005. He previously served as Director of Business Development for ARC.
Mark joined Alabama Retail Comp in January of 1998 with a background that included sales and marketing. That same year, ARC’s board of trustees voted to move the underwriting and claim processing operations “in-house” from a third-party administrator. Mark was instrumental in the development of ARC’s self-administered workers compensation program by integrating the sales, underwriting, premium administration and claim administration departments. He also engineered the design and implementation of ARC’s full-service website for the company’s network of more than 200 independent insurance agencies. This website gives agents the ability to submit new accounts to the underwriting department and provides access to their customer accounts.
Under his leadership, Alabama Retail Comp’s membership has grown more than 135 percent from approximately 1,700 to almost 4,000 members today.
As Fund Manager, Mark is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a rapidly growing self-insurance fund, overseeing a staff that is charged with sales, underwriting, premium administration, claims administration and accounting duties.
A graduate of Auburn University, Mark received the Certified Insurance Counselor designation in January of 2004. He is a member of the Alabama Independent Insurance Agents Young Agents Steering Committee and Excalibur (Scholarship) Committee and a member of the Big I PAC Committee.
