Retailer of the Year Entry Form

Retailer of the Year awards go to individuals (owners, operators, presidents, CEOs, managers etc.) rather than companies. Multiple individuals at a single company can receive an award.

Please take a few moments to complete the form below as completely as possible so you can be considered for this award.  The answers to the questions will serve as the basis upon which our selection committee decides who will be the 2019 Retailer of the Year finalists. Be aware, the judges give strong consideration to the past year’s performance.

  • To qualify for a Retailer of the Year award, you must have been in business for a minimum of five years. Any entry that has been in business for more than two years, but less than five years, will be considered for the Gee Emerging Retailer of the Year.

    In any of your answers, if you also want to note improvements in the first two quarters of 2019, you may.
  • How did your sales and profit performance in 2018 compare to 2017? Describe any strategies concerning the sales and profit performance of your company that improved business results, are unique and/or deserve special recognition
  • Describe any sales productivity results (metrics such as sales per employee or sales per square foot) and strategies utilized that improved business performance, are unique and/or deserve special recognition.
  • Describe any results and strategies implemented to expand the scope of your business during the past year that improved business performance, are unique and/or deserve special recognition. (i.e. additional stores, increased or expanded departments, broader product lines, etc.)
  • Describe any results (such as productivity or customer service improvements) and strategies utilizing new technology or other innovations that improved business performance, are unique and/or deserve special recognition.
  • Describe any marketing initiatives (such as promotion, advertising, social media, etc.)that improved business performance, are unique and/or deserve special recognition.
  • What efforts have you employed in the past year to promote retailing as a profession or an industry? Please describe. (Can include speaking engagements, media interviews, hiring interns, etc.)
  • Please list any special community service accomplishments by you or your business during the past year, which deserve special recognition.
  • List any other pertinent information you'd like when describing your business results and strategies for 2018 vs. 2017 and for the first two quarters of 2019.
